Die Spiralgalaxie M81 im Sternbild Ursa Major (Großer Wagen).
Die Gegend um diese Galaxie ist angefüllt von schwachen Nebeln,
dem sogenannten "Galaktischen Cirrus". Diese Nebel befinden sich aber nur scheinbar in der Nähe von M81.
Tatsächlich gehören sie zu unserer eigenen Galaxie der Milchstrasse.
Das weiter unten stehende, invertierte und stark kontrastverstärkte Bild zeigt den galaktischen Zirrus deutlicher.
Links von M81 erkennt man die Zwerggalaxie Holmberg IX.
The spiral galaxie M81 in the constellation Ursa Major. The area around this galaxy contains some weak nebulae, the so called "galactic cirrus". These nebulae only seem to be close to M81. In fact they belong to our own galxy the Milkyway. Below you can see an inverted and extremely stretched image that shows the galactic cirrus better. Left of M81 you can see the dwarf galaxy Holmberg IX. |
